Why not parking lots or other parking and covered easily with solar cells, and then "points" that all the energy beam to a car with built-in receiver, the park in the lot?

Any power that can still be conducted on a grid of the city during the day when loads are at their peak, or when the energy was through the plates is not enough, you can use the network.

It would either work full time with electric cars or hybrids, and offers a unique way of loading without plugs or effort from the driver. You park your car and a detection system does the rest.

Most of the answers are anything but precise. The short answer, here are the costs of solar energy, the power company today. LOTS installed panels to recharge the cars are not finacially attractive. (Unless you pay a Govt subsidy for the lot, and someone for such use from the net too much). Roof of a car is not enough space to power more than a few miles per day with a car that is very efficient and the whole roof was covered in a fairly sunny day runs. Solar energy, clear day at noon to power about 100 watts per square meter, if they said right from the sun. Solar on the roof of my house is ~ 15% efficiency of solar cells. Some are currently underway and is being tested say they are more than 50% efficiency. At this point, the harvest could be around 50 watts per square meter. 1 horsepower is about 746 watts (just over actually) due to losses. Hybrids have, what, 30 hp motor or SO electriv. So 60 square meters have solar noon (pointing directly at the sun) to tha runtons, or about 8 by 8 feet and it is with cells with a yield of 50% can not be resold. The current prices are between $ 3 to $ 5/watt minimum purchase (the ability to reason). I hear that the price will drop to 80% over time. How long, who knows? I support plug-in hybrids, GM can save the next year. Expect a lot of progress in solar batteries and hybrids in the coming years. But if everyone expects it to feel better, no one buys what is now sold. And to improve if nobody buys what is sold today, no one to spend (BIG) for money, what they sell now. Makes the problem a little hard, you know?

But here, too: "Why not ...?"

Like most things would be huge investment. It would make major investments in solar energy companies in these parking lots for the purchase of an electric (hybrid need?) Car equipped with a receiver, adapted to the consumer. Or a conversion kit for existing EV / hybrid.

Then you have to convince them to automobile manufacturers, standard receivers.

The principle that the auto manufacturers, energy companies have to agree on much of what the standards should be what the vehicles and the electronic parking garages to be compatible ...


Questions must be answered:
Who pays for electricity if the power is generated by the plates, not enough?

Solar collectors for both power would be enormous. I have a $ 15,000 solar panel in the Ecuadorian jungle, or just to duplicate the station. Approximately 3 months later, the wind blowing through the jungle. So, did it again and soldiers as part of flying. It is very expensive.
